About department

The Department of civil engineering has been functioning since 2012. The department offers a full time B.E degree course in civil engineering. Apart from conducting academic programs, additional computer courses, seminars and workshops are conducted for the students as well as the faculty. A number of consultancy works are also being carried out. The department was under the affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University. The present student intake of the department is 60.The department has well experienced faculty. The students from different parts of the country are studying in the branch.


To produce engineers having professional, technical and leadership qualities with capacity to take up professional and research assignments in civil engineering and allied fields with focus on inter-disciplinary and innovation approach and to complete at the global level.


  • To impart quality and real time education to contribute to the field of civil engineering.
  • To impart soft skills, leadership qualities and professional ethics and motivate entrepreneurship among the graduate to handle projects independently.
  • To develop graduates to complete at the global level.
  • To deal with the contemporary issues and to cater of environment the societal needs.



  • To impart quality education and knowledge in contemporary science and technology to meet the challenges in the field of civil engineering
  • To impart the knowledge of analysis and design using the codes of practice and software packages.
  • To inculcate the sense of ethics, morality, creativity, leadership, professionalism, self confidence and independent thinking.
  • To motivate the students to take up higher studies and innovative research projects.


Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

At the end of the B.E Civil engineering program, the students are expected to have developed the following program specific outcomes.

PSO1 The graduates will have the ability to plan, analyse, design, execute and maintain cost effective civil engineering structures without overexploitation of natural resources.

PSO2 The graduates of civil engineering program will have the ability to take up employment, entrepreneurship, research and development for sustainable civil society.

PSO3 The graduates will be able to pursue opportunities for personal and professional growth, higher studies, demonstrate leadership skills and engage in lifelong learning by active participation in the civil engineering profession.

 PSO4 The graduates will be able to demonstrate professional integrity and an appreciation of ethical, environmental, regulatory and issues related to civil engineering projects.


Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Civil Engineering graduates are expected to attain the following program educational objectives (PEOs) after graduation. Our graduates will be professionals who will be able to

PEO1: Deliver competent services in the field of Civil Engg., with a knowledge of the principles of engineering and the theories of science that underlie them.

PEO2: Continue their professional development, nurture research attitude, and life-long learning with scientific temperament.

PEO3: Exercise leadership quality and professional integrity, with a commitment to the societal needs and sustainable development.

Laboratories of the department

  • Basic material testing labPurpose of this laboratory is to test construction materials like Cast iron, copper, Brass, Mild steel, HYSD Steel, Bricks, Coarse aggregates & fine Aggregates, Roofing tiles etc.
  • Surveying LaboratorySurveying is the science of map making. To start any development activity in an area the relative positions of various objects in the horizontal and vertical directions are required. This is approved by surveying the area.
    Major instruments available in our laboratory are compass, Dumpy level, Theodalite, Total station etc.
  • Geology Laboratory The laboratory portion with provide basic identification of geologic materials, map use and deformation of rock analogs. Then we will head outdoors to explore geologic and geophysical mapping techniques; and illustrate environmental, geologic and engineering topics thro ugh visits to local field sites.
  • Geo-Technical Engg. laboratory

The main aim of this laboratory is to test the strength of soil. The major instruments available in our laboratory are CBR, Direct shear, Unconfined shear, Liquid limit test apparatus etc.

A student association of Civil engineering department was launched on the auspicious day Sir. M Vishweshwaraya ‘s  154th birthday (15th september 2014) under the name of CIVIL WORLD. And also celebrated the ’Engineers day’, Association logo was launched on same day. Dr. D.S Prakash , Assistant Director , D.T.E Board And Mr. Sundararajan. V, Head, Technology Excellence Group had presided over the function as chief guest in the presence of Director, Principal, H.O.D’s of all the departments. The toppers of the all department were awarded as well.


Technical fest conducted by department was the biggest milestone in the history of college making it a unique fest of about expressing the ideas of students of all the departments in engineering. Sri. A.K.Shukla, deputy director, DRDO – Ministry of Defense had presided over the function as the chief guest in the presence of Director, Principal, H.O.D. The most expressive and best model was awarded with the cash price and moment.
