Bangalore, April 27, 2010: Amruta Institute of Engineering & Management Services (AIeMS) today inked an agreement with US-based semi conductor firm Altera Corporation to set up a hardware lab in its campus at Bidadi near here.
The FPGA/SOPC (Field Programmable Gate Array/System On Programmable Chip) lab would pave the way for training students in hardware and stregthen the academic-industry partnership, Pradeep Oak, Chairman Governing Council of AIeMS told reporters here.
Country Manager of Altera International Limited, Gangatharan Gopal said “FPGAs help industries realise their end products quicker and get to the market faster with very low upfront investment at lower risk. FPGA and SOPC technologies have very bright future in India”.
The lab set up under the Altera University Program will support VLSI education to train and develop their students in the areas of Programmable Logic Solutions and also to carry out research in the field.
President of Semi-Conductor Association of India, Poornima Shenoy, who was also present, said the lab would make the students industry-ready. “The industry will also be benefitted from the vast resource pool at the Institute, especially the SME industry which can use the lab to develop the skills of their staff”.
