Civil Department

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2012. The department offers four years full time Bachelor of Engineering course in Civil Engineering with an intake of 60. The program is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi. The course content and examination activities are governed by VTU. The department is recognised as a Research Centre from VTU. The department has qualified faculty, well equipped laboratories very good computational facilities with application software like STAAD-Pro, ETABS, ANSYS, Auto-CAD to cater the needs of academic and research activities. The department also undertakes consultancy works in the areas of Structural, Geo-technical and Environmental Engineering. The internships in industries, collaborative project works and industry visits are the part of their curriculum. Apart from the regular curricular activities students are involved in extra-curricular activities, sports, computer courses etc.

Message From HOD

I extend warm greetings from the Department of Civil Engineering. The civil engineering started with the inception of civilization and has undergone tremendous change in its activities with technological advancement. It is one of the challenging professions and our department is committed to prepare the students for the same.

We offer undergraduate program in civil engineering and have research centre recognised from VTU. We have dedicated faculty and necessary infrastructure to provide the state-of-the-art technology and prepare morally and social responsible citizens to build our nation.

The civil engineering students have great opportunities in Government departments, private and public sector undertakings to take up various infrastructural projects. The department has strong linkages with industries in terms of industrial internships, projects, consultancy works, visits etc. The students are encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities for necessary soft skill and personality development.

    Vision:

    To produce engineers having professional, technical and leadership qualities with capacity to take up professional and research assignments in civil engineering and allied fields with focus on inter-disciplinary and innovation approach and to complete at the global level.

    1. To impart quality and real time education to contribute to the field of civil engineering.

    2. To impart soft skills, leadership qualities and professional ethics and motivate entrepreneurship among the graduate to handle projects independently.

    3. To develop graduates to complete at the global level.

    4. To deal with the contemporary issues and to cater of environment the societal needs.

    Objective:

    1. To impart quality education and knowledge in contemporary science and technology to meet the challenges in the field of civil engineering

    2. To impart the knowledge of analysis and design using the codes of practice and software packages.

    3. To inculcate the sense of ethics, morality, creativity, leadership, professionalism, self confidence and independent thinking.

    4. To motivate the students to take up higher studies and innovative research projects

    Civil Engineering graduates are expected to attain the following program educational objectives (PEOs) after graduation. Our graduates will be professionals who will be able to

    Program Objectives (Pos)

    At the end of the B.E Civil engineering program, the students are expected to have developed the following program specific outcomes.

    PSO 1: The graduates will have the ability to plan, analyse, design, execute and maintain cost effective civil engineering structures without overexploitation of natural resources.

    PSO 2: The graduates of civil engineering program will have the ability to take up employment, entrepreneurship, research and development for sustainable civil society.

    PSO 3: The graduates will be able to pursue opportunities for personal and professional growth, higher studies, demonstrate leadership skills and engage in lifelong learning by active participation in the civil engineering profession.

    PSO 4: The graduates will be able to demonstrate professional integrity and an appreciation of ethical, environmental, regulatory and issues related to civil engineering projects.
